ERI Gambia
European Research Institute – The Gambia Chapter (ERI Gambia) is a private, non-profit organization that promotes research and innovation both in the field of science and within society in a general scale. Its mission is to promote the sustainable development of the Gambia, improving the economic, social and cultural conditions of Gambian citizens, and promoting respect for and protection of the environment. The organization was established in Gambia in 2020 by the ERI Foundation. By collaborating with various stakeholders including local and national public authorities, universities and research centres, civil society organisations and international organisations, ERI Gambia pursues the following objectives:
- Promote the empowerment of women;
- Promoting female entrepreneurship;
- Promote the empowerment and active involvement of young people;
- Provide support to vulnerable people;
- Developing actions to improve food security
- To promote human rights;
- Promote circular economy solutions;
- Encourage the development of innovative and sustainable production systems;
- Preventing and reducing pollution;
- Encouraging the protection of biodiversity;
- Contribute to the mitigation of climate change impacts;
- Develop actions to adapt to the effects of climate change;
- Foster closer cooperation between professionals from the public sector, the private sector and civil society.
